The Bridge’s Skyroom is one of the campus’most iconic spaces with a design that focuses on highlighting the relationship between architecture and light. The rooftop area’s circular skylights help distribute natural sunlight and warmth throughout every corner of the space, while three of the four walls are designed with floor to ceiling windows, allowing for multi-directional panoramic views. The combination of these windows lets the viewer feel as if they could reach out and touch the blue sky and white clouds that envelop the space, stretching out to the horizon. Composed from wood-based materials, the space allows the viewer to feel further immersed in nature and be inspired by its vitally.
The Skyroom is also equipped with a stepped activity area which acts a natural sundial. Starting in the morning, the sunlight projects through the windows onto the area’s white walls, and the light then gradually glides across the space, illuminating each section of space in turn. Stepped seats made of back concrete contrast with the encircling white walls and wooden veneer, producing an elegant visual effect of interweaving materiality. Soaking in the space, the viewer experiences feelings of transparency and brightness, creating a perfectly balanced sense of lightness and tranquility. The Skyroom can host up to 120 people and be used for lectures, events, and conferences.
